Joseph P. Byrns

Father Joseph Byrns is one of the numerous priests in the Diocese of Brooklyn who have been credibly accused of sexual abuse. Byrns served thirty-five years in the ministry. He was ordained in 1969 and was removed from ministry 2004. In 2013, he was officially dismissed from the clerical state.

During his time in the Church, Byrns’ assignments included St. Anastasia, Douglaston; Mater Christi High School; St. John’s Prep High School; St. Andrew Avellino, Flushing; Holy Cross, Maspeth; and St. Rose of Lima, Brooklyn.
